Introduction

Hik-Connect’s P2P (peer-to-peer) technology lets you access your cameras and NVRs remotely without configuring port forwarding, static IPs, or DDNS. It works through Hikvision’s secure cloud relay, making remote access simple and accessible for any user.

How P2P Works

When enabled, the NVR registers itself with Hikvision’s P2P server using its unique serial number. The Hik-Connect app on your phone also connects to this server. The server brokers a secure connection between your app and NVR without exposing any ports on your network.

Setting Up P2P

On the NVR, go to Configuration > Network > Platform Access and enable Hik-Connect. Scan the QR code displayed on the NVR with the Hik-Connect app to bind the device to your account. Verify the connection—live view should be available within seconds.

Security Considerations

P2P traffic is encrypted end-to-end. Use a strong Hik-Connect account password and enable two-factor authentication. The NVR’s verification code (shown during setup) adds an additional authentication layer that prevents unauthorised device binding.

Troubleshooting

If the device shows offline, verify internet connectivity at the NVR location. Ensure the router does not block outbound connections on ports 8555 and 443. Restart the NVR if the P2P registration fails. Check that Hik-Connect is enabled in the NVR’s network settings.
