Introduction
Hikvision’s solar-powered camera solutions bring professional-grade surveillance to locations without mains electricity: remote farms, desert installations, construction sites, and temporary event venues. Powered by the sun and connected via 4G, these systems operate completely off-grid.
System Components
A complete solar surveillance kit includes a Hikvision IP camera (typically 4 MP with ColorVu or IR), a solar panel (40–120 W depending on the camera’s power needs), a lithium battery pack (sized for 3–5 days of autonomy), a 4G router or SIM-enabled camera, and a mounting pole or bracket.
How It Works
The solar panel charges the battery during daylight hours. The battery powers the camera and 4G module 24/7. Video is streamed or uploaded to a cloud NVR or remote Hik-Connect account. Alarm events trigger push notifications to the owner’s smartphone, just like a wired system.
Sizing for Egyptian Climate
Egypt’s abundant sunshine (5–7 peak sun hours daily) makes solar cameras highly effective year-round. A 60 W panel paired with a 100 Ah lithium battery comfortably powers a standard 4 MP camera with 4G connectivity, even during winter months with shorter days.
Applications
Farm and livestock monitoring, construction site security, pipeline and utility monitoring, border and perimeter protection, temporary event surveillance, and remote desert infrastructure. Any location where trenching power and data cables is impractical or cost-prohibitive.
