Introduction
Many existing CCTV systems in Egypt still run on analog coaxial infrastructure. Migrating to IP cameras offers better resolution, smart analytics, and remote management—but a full rip-and-replace is not always necessary. Hikvision’s hybrid approach lets you upgrade gradually.
Why Migrate to IP?
IP cameras offer resolutions up to 32 MP, on-board AI analytics (AcuSense, face recognition), PoE single-cable installation, and seamless remote access via Hik-Connect. Analog systems are limited to 8 MP, lack smart features, and require separate power wiring.
Hybrid Migration Strategy
Hikvision’s Turbo HD DVRs accept both analog (coaxial) and IP camera inputs. Start by replacing critical cameras at entrances and perimeters with IP models while keeping existing analog cameras in lower-priority areas. Over time, replace all analog cameras as budgets allow.
Reusing Existing Coax
If pulling new Ethernet cable is impractical, use Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) adapters to run IP camera signals over existing coaxial cable. This avoids the cost and disruption of re-cabling while still gaining IP camera benefits.
Network Infrastructure
IP migration requires network switches (preferably PoE-managed) and structured cabling. Plan the network before purchasing cameras: determine switch locations, cable routes, and power requirements. A properly designed network ensures reliable, future-proof performance.
